Assignment 4: Legal and Ethical Liability

Legal Aspects of Healthcare Administration: Assignment 4

This artifact is from my Legal Aspects of Healthcare Administration course, where I analyzed real-world scenarios involving patient rights, malpractice, and hospital liability. This assignment required me to apply legal and ethical principles to complex situations in healthcare, evaluating both individual and organizational responsibility.

These same steps can be followed to embed other forms of media as well. If your artifact is a video or slide deck, upload it to ONEDRIVE or Google Drive and you can use the same steps. If you have another form, find a YouTube video or steps online on how best to add it. If all else fails, visit the ePortfolio Studio for technical help.

What I learned

I chose to include this assignment because it challenged me to think critically about high-stakes situations where legal decisions directly impact patient outcomes. It was one of the first times I had to apply legal concepts like informed consent, emergency care obligations, and malpractice liability in a practical way. I spent a lot of time working through each scenario and considering different perspectives, which strengthened my analytical thinking and attention to detail.

This artifact is meaningful to me because it highlights my ability to evaluate ethical and legal dilemmas in healthcare settings—skills that are essential for both clinical practice and healthcare administration. It also reflects my understanding of how laws protect patients and guide provider responsibilities, which will be critical in my future career.
